The Self Is Dead

In sociology, the sense of self refers to the human ability to be self-conscious and to perceive oneself as an object of experience. People are not often their true selves because of societal labels and expectations. There are unspoken rules about how one should behave or present themselves to others. This ultimately force the self to alter their true self in order to fit in. This paper examines the concept of self and thereafter discusses the death of self from a sociological perspective.
