Crowdsourcing involves outsourcing work to a large group of people outside the organization using the internet and social networks. The outsourced work could have been done by a select few individuals in the organization. Instead, it delegated to individuals outside the business. Crowdsourcing has proven to be an effective marketing method. It reaches a wider pool of potential workers with diverse experience, skills, and qualifications within a short time. The main purpose of outsourcing is to reduce costs and to access a wider variety of skills. This paper will discuss the concept of crowdsourcing through social media, its application in marketing and its role in the evolution of social media and society.
