There are various options for treatment that may be considered in disaster situations. A disaster situation such as a hurricane would subject the victims to psychiatric conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), major depression, and anxiety. These conditions are likely to affect the survivors of the disaster as well as rescuers and other individuals who have witnessed the catastrophic incidence. The disaster highlighted is a category five hurricane, like Hurricane Katrina, that made landfall in Florida and Louisiana in August 2005. The hurricane disaster causes extensive destruction and casualties, with fatalities and displacements witnessed. Survivors of the disaster will be treated for PTSD, major depressive disorder and anxiety.
