Fences by August Wilson

In the play ‘Fences’, Troy vs. Society conflict is used to drive the other battles and elements of the play. This is evidenced by the limited opportunities being offered to African Americans during his generation. The fact that society has changed and can allow his son, Cory, to play baseball makes him angry. It also drives a huge wedge between him and his family and the people close to him.
